Dr. Randombe Sunitha Thero

Dr. Randombe Suneetha Thero, a Sri Lankan Buddhist monk, received the basic education required for a monk and Monk Methodism from Randombe Shikshalankara Pirivena and Sangharaja Viharaya. he has mastered Pali, Sanskrit, Japanese, English languages, Tripitaka Dharma and also has practiced Monk regulations.

University Education

  • 1991. – B.A. from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Special Edition Buddhist Philosophy 1991
  • 2019. – M.A degree and Acharya degree from Kyoto Otani University with research on Brahmaviharana 2019
  • 2021. – Research on Dhamma concept in Mahaparinibbana Sutra for P.H.D degree from Hiroshima University 2021

Dr. Randombe Sunitha Thero, who is providing guidance and contribution for this purpose, has planned to start a Tripitaka Research Education Institute in the Suwasamadhi Monastery by utilizing the educational knowledge and experience and research methodology knowledge gathered while researching the concept of dharma in the Mahaparinibbana Sutra,  for the doctoral degree at Hiroshima University. We would appreciate it if you could help us in the following ways through your kind contribution.

Tripitaka Research Institute for Monks by Suvasamadhi Monastery

Institute of Theravada and Mahayana Tripitaka Dharma Research and
Modern Languages Studies

1. In order to carry out studies experimentally for the reverends who have basic education such as Pali, Sanskrit, Tripitaka Dharma etc. in Sri Lankan temples.

2. To  study Pali  and English languages, And review & research the Tripitaka Dharma such as Sutras, Vinaya, Abhidharma Pitaka commentaries, .

3. To study Sanskrit Language, Sanskrit literature (studying the Mahabharata), as well as exploring the Mahayana Sutras, Commentaries, Commentaries, and do research on the Tripitaka Dharma, Studying Zen Buddhism and researching the books written by Mahayanic philosophers such as Ashwaghosha, Nagarjuna, Asanga, Vasubandhu, Chandakirti, Shantideva etc.

4. To research and study  Sanskrit literature such as Mahabharata.

Examples:

  •  the Buddhacarita 
  •  Mūlāmadhyamakakārikā 
  • Māhāyāna sangrhā
  • Prasannapadā,
  • Dharmakīrti   Pramāṇavārttika,
  • Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra.

4. Language study: Providing opportunities to the monks to  learn modern languages such as English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, French, Thai, Burmese, Hindi.

5. In this way, the monks who completed their fundamental education at the temple will get their basic education from our institution and send them to Japan, Korea, Asian countries and England, France, America etc. to find scholarships to engage in research activities such as BA, MA, PHD for further education related to Buddhism.

Necessary facilities

To start this educational institution in the Suwasamadhi Monastery in Sri Lanka as above, if possible, with your contribution, we would be able to arrange a dhamma hall, a hall with classrooms, a toilet system, a kitchen, a row of rooms for the monks to stay, a library for doing research, studying desks and chairs, other necessary equipment, and to provide a monthly salary to the teachers, etc. We would be very grateful if it’s possible to help us set up a farm in our temple to grow vegetables and fulfill food necessities to give alms to the monks who are studying.
